Electron Correlation Effects in Double Photoionization of Earth Alkaline Atoms

Abstract

The double photoionization (DPI) of calcium and strontium in the
region of the 3p → 3d and 4p → 4d giant resonances at 31.41 eV and 25.24 eV
respectively has been analyzed for equal and unequal energy sharing by the two
emitted electrons. The study includes the case where the two electrons are
ejected in two different angles with respect to the major axis of the linear
polarization of the photon beam (the E-vector). Comparison is made with the
available theoretical and experimental data for the triple differential cross
section of helium.
