Peer Review Process

The reviewers are selected by the editor or the associate editors who submitted articles are assigned for. Reviewers are independently chosen from Egyptian and International scientists, based on certain criteria, which are their specialization in the field of the submitted articles, and their experiences defines through their published work. They are identified either based on the search in the databases, their personal contacts with the editors, or through the participation in the annual international meeting of the society. Currently, the number of reviewers is one for each article, this might be modified in the future.

The process is as follows:

  1. The Editor-in-Chief receives the submitted article, if he thinks that it is suitable for the journal, he sends it to one of the associate editors, according to the research field of the article.
  2. The associate editor reviews the article and selects the possible reviewer.
  3. The reviewer is given a maximum of one month to respond.
  4. When the associate editor receives the response from the reviewer, s/he sends the decision to the authors.
  5. If revision is needed, the authors have two weeks to submit the revised version.
  6. If the revised version is accepted by the associate editor, the associate editor informs the authors of the acceptance.
  7. All communications are processed through email.

The decisions based on the reviewer and the associate editor could be:

  1. Accept without modifications.
  2. Accept after minor revision, e.g. format, referencing, clarifications…. etc.
  3. Accept after major revision, e.g. repeat experiments, repeat simulation, major clarifications…. etc.
  4. Rejection because of the low quality of the submitted work.
  5. Rejection because of the out of focus.
